FAQ

FAQ

What is the difference between SkinMedica chemical peels and Environ cool peels?

While they both do similar things, Environ is a gentler peel with little to no downtime. SkinMedica offers a stronger peel option in three variations for targeted results, and have varying degrees of downtime based on the strength of your peel.

What things should I consider before getting a chemical peel?

  • Ensure you don't have any active cold sores or open lesions on your face.

  • You should not have had Roaccutane/Accuate within the past 6-12 months

  • Avoid if you have a compromised skin barrier or have known allergies to peel acids

  • Consult with your doctor if you're pregnant or think that you're pregnant before getting a peel

If you have questions or are unsure if you're a good candidate for a chemical peel, schedule a complimentary consultation or consult your doctor or dermatologist.

How should I prepare for my peel?

Stop using strong exfoliants and retinol three to five days before your treatment. It's best to wait at least five days after having a recent wax or cosmetic procedure before getting a peel.

What do I do after a chemical peel?

Your esthetician will provide you with at-home instructions. However, common recommendations include avoiding heat, steam, and exercise for 24 hours, apply sunscreen daily for protection, and avoid exfoliating products for five to seven days.

How often should I get a chemical peel?

We will recommend a treatment plan, but on average, it's recommended to receive four to six treatments one to two weeks apart, and every four to six weeks for maintenance.

Is there pain or discomfort?

While chemical peels shouldn't cause high levels of pain when done correctly, most peels will feel like a mild to moderate sunburn after the service. This is temporary and will go away within two to four days. If you're sensitive to peels or want maximum comfort, we recommend the Environ Cool Peel.
