Tommy Tipton

Tommy was  born in Charlotte but grew up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He later moved to Charleston, South Carolina, and made his way to Winston-Salem in 2024. He got into haircutting at  age 15. He had a set of clippers and a chair set up in his backyard next to his skateboard ramp. All his punker and surfer friends came to him for their Mohawks and undercuts.

Becoming a professional stylist was a natural step for him—but not before his time as a full-time professional drummer!

A graduate of Sassoon Connection Academy, Tommy is an expert in precision cutting, as well as clipper cutting and fades. In Charleston, he was well known for his pixie cuts, bobs, shags, wolves, and similar styles, and he particularly enjoys short to medium length haircuts. His favorite color service is balayage, a technique he started using in 2016 and never looked back.

Tommy’s biggest hair emergency was when a client came in for a haircut with head lice. With the help of the procedures in place, he was able to handle it promptly and professionally. Luckily, it’s only happened once, but it’s an unforgettable experience.

As far as his own hair, Tommy does not like rocking fades. He doesn’t think they look good on him. His favorite cut was when he wore his hair in a long mod shag.

When it comes to products, Tommy is a huge fan of the Davines product line—especially All in One Milk. He loves the performance of the shampoos, conditioners, and styling products, as well as Davines’s commitment to sustainability and using natural, organic ingredients that are free from harmful chemicals.

In his free time, Tommy enjoys music and drumming—no surprises there! He also loves spending time with his fiancé, Kelly, and teenage daughter Roxie.
