Tru Certyl

Originally from Elizabeth, New Jersey, Tru has called the Winston-Salem area home since March of 2025. At the start of her career, Tru began providing natural manicures and pedicures but soon fell in love with the barber and hairstyling side of the industry. But it wasn't until her healing journey from breast cancer that she realized she wanted to pursue hair as a career. She loves her craft, and on top of that, the beauty industry gives her the opportunity to serve others again—which she considers a major blessing.

Tru's favorite services are blowouts, silk presses, and barbering. She loves seeing the way these services transform her clients' looks. As for her personal style, the best hairstyle she's had is from her locs journey. Her least favorite look on herself was when she used to wear her hair in a perm or relaxer. Locs just fit her best!

One of her favorite products is Oribe Magnificent Volume. The name of the product speaks for itself, and as with all Oribe products, Tru loves that a little goes such a long way. If she could have all her clients purchase one professional tool, it would be a good blow dryer.

If Tru could give any celebrity a makeover, she'd choose Lil Wayne. His look's a little "messy" and she'd love the chance to clean him up a little.

One of Tru's philosophies is that making yourself a priority should be a priority. Look good, smell good, feel good! And she loves helping her clients look and feel their best.

When she's not at the salon, Tru enjoys sewing. She makes clothes and baby blankets.
